Netflix will stay exclusive to Xbox, report says

Maybe Netflix is sticking with Xbox 360 for the time being and won’t suddenly pop up on another game console.

The British gaming journal Edge says it has confirmed that the DVD rental and movie-streaming service intends to remain with Xbox, though the report does not cite a specific source. Netflix has offered streaming movies through the Xbox Live online gaming service since November.

Speculation that Netflix was heading for PlayStation 3 and Wii was stirred by a recent job posting on Netflix’s website that called for an “engineering leader” for “gaming platforms” — note the plural use of that last word — and described one of the job tasks as the creation of development team that would work on a “variety of platforms.”

Unless of course Netflix means a variety of Xbox platforms — because each one it uses keeps falling prey to hardware failure.

Weird how every other news source is focusing on the Xbox losing the Netflix exclusivity as Netflix has said ‘for now’. Why does your title make it seem like the opposite?

Well, tell me then, how long does ‘for now’ last?
