The TV game show that made Louie Anderson a household name is on course toward becoming a series of console and computer games again.

A deal for new titles based on “Family Feud,” which challenges families to answer survey questions for prize money, was agreed upon by Ludia entertainment and FreemantleMedia this week and includes provisions for several variations based on the popular show.

“Family Feud” has appeared as a board game and was first developed for console play back in 1983. The most recent editions appeared on PlayStation 2 and GameBoy Advance in 2006.

Details about the proposed games are few at this point, but they are supposed to closely resemble the TV version in their basic design yet include special challenges for points and other prizes to expand on the game’s appeal, spokesmen for both companies said in a news release.

“Family Feud” will be developed for consoles as well as PC and Mac, the release said. No word yet on a release date or whether Richard Dawson will emerge to kiss the high scorers.
