‘Night at the Museum’ sequel now available
Ben Stiller is back as security guard Larry Daley, now patrolling the halls at the mother of all U.S. museums, the Smithsonian Institution, in “Night at the Museum: Battle of the Smithsonian,” available for $39.99 for Xbox 360 and Wii, $29.99 for Nintendo DS and $19.99 for PC.
“Battle” follows Daley as he moves over from New York’s American Museum of Natural History with some of its exhibits, including a mysterious ancient tablet that brings the museum artifacts to life after sundown. This time however, that magic threatens to stir an ancient Egyptian army bent on domination outside the Smithsonian’s hallowed halls.
Using Daley’s keychain and flashlight, players can subdue the threat and rescue in-game characters from impending doom by solving a series of puzzles through 14 levels and assorted other Washington landmarks, among them the Federal Archives, the National Air and Space Museum and the Lincoln Memorial. The puzzles lead to pieces of the ancient tablet players must collect with other items to unlock mini-games, other areas of the Smithsonian and bonus content.
In the DS version, players embark on a side-scrolling adventure in which Daley scoops up tablet pieces on touch-screen commands and gains new abilities as a result.
The movie debuts in theaters May 22.
