Flick Fishing hooks one million iPlayers
Hard to believe, but of all the iPhone application games out there, “Flick Sports Fishing” seems to be one of the biggest, reeling in its one-millionth paying player this past weekend — the first pay-to-play application from iTunes’ App Store to do so, according to game developer Freeverse.
The 99-cent distraction lets you swing an iPhone or iPod touch like a fishing pole to hook a catch, then spin your finger ’round the touch screen to reel it in. Since the release of the iPhone OS 3.0 update, “Flick Sports Fishing” now also has peer-to-peer networking to compare catches, new fishing locations and new kinds of fish.
Game Guy has played “Flick Sports Fishing” only occasionally. Sure, it’s fun, but to him, it seems an easy excuse to accidentally throw his iPhone across the room.
