The magic man returns to Hogwarts as “Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince” hits store shelves today.
“Prince,” available on all major consoles, plus PC and Mac, brings back all the major characters from the hugely popular book/movie/game series and like the last game, “Order of the Phoenix,” features mainly explorations around Hogwarts; this time though, Harry dabbles in potion-making — the better to battle Voldemort in the final showdown.
Another new element: players can move and cast spells at the same time, which ought to boost the speed of wizard duels. Also, Harry must rely on Nearly Headless Nick, instead of maps, to guide him through most of the gameplay. One hopes then that Nick keeps his head while those about him are losing theirs.
And, of course, the students all have racing hormones that factor into the plot.
The game, developed by EA Bright Light Studio, was released this week to coincide with the movie debut in early July.
