To honor this year’s end-of-October onslaught of ghouls and goblins, game developer Mythic Entertainment will bring a special, Halloween-time event to its “Warhammer Online: Age of Reckoning.”

The challenge “Daemon Moon Rising” tasks players for a limited time to collect a series of spirit-possessed carnival masks smuggled into the Empire and defeat the spirits within them, with the chance to collect one of the masks as a souvenir after the quest.

As a bonus, victors win the right to rummage through a sack of secrets and possibly withdraw the rare and powerful “Magus Daemonarium.” Game Guy’s not a huge WAR fan, but he’s assured that plucking ol’ Magus is tantamount to winning the lottery.

Included in the “Rising” contest is a “Daemonball Rally Public Quest” pitting Order and Destruction contestants against each other to seize a Daemon Cradle and win control over the power of spreading nightmares.

Sounds like scary-fun stuff, eh?
