The Herbert Hoover Boys and Girls Club, which has served the community for more than 40 years, will administer the in-school mentoring program Mentor St. Louis has offered in some city schools for nearly 15 years, the groups announced today.

Mentor St. Louis will continue as a program of the Boys and Girls Club, and its same staff members will now work for Herbert Hoover. The merging will help cut adminnistrative costs and create a “stronger programmatic and administrative foundation and broader mentoring options for the long term,” according to the groups.

Mentor St. Louis works with kids at Cote Brilliante, Dunbar, Farragut, Jefferson, and Sherman elementary schools.

Children who are mentees will also become Boys and Girls club members. Herbert Hoover has two city and one north St. Louis County locations and offers programs in leadership, education, and career development, the arts, health and life skills, and sports, fitness and recreation.
