Jury recommends up to 11 years of prison for Earp
Post-Dispatch reporter Heather Ratcliffe just sent me the following:
A St. Louis jury recommended today that a political consultant accused of stealing more than $220,000 from a St. Louis Community College campaign fund in 2006 serve up to 11 years in prison.
Steven Wyatt Earp, 31, of Fenton, was convicted this week of two felony counts of stealing more than $25,000.
Prosecutors said Earp, who was paid more than $500,000 to run a bond issue campaign, over billed the committee and then used the money for luxury cars and jewelry. The victim was a committee called Citizens for Education and Job Training, which pushed unsuccessfully for a property tax rate increase in April 2006.
After deliberations, the jury decided Earp should serve five years on the first count and six years on the second. St. Louis Circuit Judge Donald McCullin will sentence Earp on April 17.

Didn’t quite live up to the “Wyatt Earp” namesake… OR make the grade.
Hmmm… he’s the only one going to the pokey? Someone must have made a deal….
Accountability has never been the College’s strong suit. The Board of Trustees were probably patting Mr. Earp’s and Mr. Rohrbacher’s backs the whole time during the incident.
Mr. Rohrbacker had nothing to do with this. This is the District’s way of scapegoating their failed tax increase bid, nothing more…
