Seal of disapproval
Kevin Horrigan
St. Louis Post-Dispatch

The Barack Obama campaign Tuesday retired the Great Seal of Barack, saying it had been created for “one-time use” only at a Democratic governor’s meeting last Friday. Right, and the “Mission Accomplished” banner was the Navy’s idea.

The seal got bad reviews, as did the candidate’s judgment in letting his eager-beaver advisers create it in the first place. Worst feature: “Vero possumus,” roughly translated as,”Yes we can,” replacing “E pluribus unum.”

Somewhere, H.R. “Bob” Haldeman is wondering, “Why didn’t I think of that for the ‘68 campaign?”

Note to campaign staff: Calm down, guys. It’s a long way to November.
