Hollywood: Obama not a celebrity . . .
From the LA Times: “(I)ndustry types say the ad is wrong: In the Hollywood lexicon, Obama is not a celebrity. He’s a rock star. (Note to McCain strategists: That’s the difference between Jessica Simpson and Bono.) “

Eddie Roth writes about education, social justice, public safety, transportation, legal affairs and historic preservation. He joined the Post-Dispatch editorial page in 2008 after six years as an editorial writer with the Dayton Daily News. But he is not new to St. Louis. Eddie grew up in Webster Groves and south St. Louis County. He's a lawyer who for many years practiced with a downtown firm, and was active in civic affairs, including serving a term on the St. Louis Police Board. He and his wife, Jeanne, and their three daughters, Emily, Julia and Alice, live in the Shaw Neighborhood.
When it comes to community organizing, he endorses Quentin Crisp's advice: Rather than keeping up with the Joneses, it's better to pull them down to your level.
I love how McCain raises his head and kinda peers off into the distance as if he’s contemplating the deep truths of the universe, right after one of the sleaziest and most juvenile ads of the campaign so far. So much for his promise to run a positive campaign!
It is semantics to argue whether he is a celebrity or a rock star. He is an empty suit, all hype and hope, change and changing positions. He is smoke and mirrors. He is a stealth socialist, a closet Marxist. He is a phony. Can’t wait till a debate with McCain, provided Obama has the uh, “courage” to show up at a debate.
Rock star or celebutard, both are equally vapid. As for the other comparison, you have to put Obama in the Jessica Simpson category. He might be nice to look at, but crikey, don’t let him open his mouth. And now that the mere act of visiting other countries and meeting heads of state has become the standard for foreign policy experience, Bono beats Obama hands down. The McCain ad hits the nail right on the head. Obama’s all show and no substance.
“one of the sleaziest and most juvenile ads of the campaign”
Could you explain what parts you find sleazy and juvenile? Certainly not the part about questioning his ability to lead?
Uh-oh! A.S.’s panties will soon be in a bunch.
You want deep truths of the universe … Behold, The One.

Since you accuse Obama of being an “empty suit” and “vapid”, I assume that you’ve carefully read over his positions. So why don’t you say what issue precisely you think he needs to say more about. Or is too much to ask of your “vapid” talking points.
I’d like to hear more about how he is going to slow the rise of the oceans, heal the earth and FINALLY start taking care of sick people. I’d like to hear more about how “we are the ones we have been waiting for,” “This is our moment” and other planks of his plans for the USSA.
After that, I’d like to learn more about Black Liberation Theology.
I think it is time the PD remark on the lame campaign McCain is offering. Is that the best he can do, compare his opponent to two Bimbos?
How about the issues instead of lies by the way.
Here’s four:
1. “I was wrong to oppose The Surge. I was wrong to say Iraq is a lost cause.”
(”O”’s scrubbed his website of all his opposition to The Surge, yes?)
2. “I am wrong to oppose US energy independence … we should allow the states to drill for new energy sources. Let them decide.”
3. “I am wrong to “prefer” higher gas prices.”

4. “I really can’t make the oceans rise nor fall. Axelrod made me say it.”

Adam,
I forgot one of the most important things I’d like to hear more from Obama about– how to solve our severe energy crisis.
I mean OTHER than putting air in our tires.
