Live blog! Palin & Biden take the field (house)
Do you think there’s been enough hype?
In a few minutes, Sen. Joe Biden and Gov. Sarah Palin take center stage at Washington University’s field house in our hometown for the only debate between the vice presidential candidates.
According to the Commission on Presidential Debates, the candidates have agreed to this format:
“All topics, moderated by Gwen Ifill. . . Ninety-second answers, followed by two-minute discussion for each question. Two-minute closing statements.”
The editorial page staff will watch and post live comments here.
Join the conversation and post your thoughts as well. Let’s roll.

Previously, he worked as a reporter, editor and executive editor for The Dallas Morning News and its daily Spanish-language newspaper, Al Dia. He still harbors a passion for all things Tex-Mex: food, music, language, boots and border culture. And yes he has found some of that in the Midwest.
Hello, again, everybody. Sitting here at home in South St. Louis in front of the TV watching the CNN talking heads.
One thing about BOTH of the vp candidates: they are fearless! Truly.
I hope they have the decency to wait until the Brewers-Phillies game is over. But with the Phils up 5-2 going into the bottom of the eighth, and Lidge ready for to close for Philly, I guess they can go ahead and start the debate.
Mini-debate: Which channel do you choose?
Checking in from University City…. Splitting the iMac screen, I’ll have the MSN/MSNBC feed in one window — I learned during the Olympics that it works best — and The Platform in a second window.
It’s the TechLife!
I was on CNN, but I will watch the debate on PBS. I like Shields and Brooks and the presidential historians post debate chat. Then I will flip around the cable news talkers.
I like Gwen Ifill. Strong but fair.
Gwen, the Miami Dolphins want their jacket back.
Can I call you Joe?” she asks…. the trap is set.
Biden is going to talk about Obama. That’s what all the kibitzers recommended.
