Tuition talks, should vote too
Eddie Roth
St. Louis Post-Dispatch

This item caught my eye. It’s about a bill Sen. Chuck Graham, D-Columbia, is trying to midwife into law that would give a vote to the student member of the University of Missouri Board of Curators.

Seems the grown ups on the board don’t want to share. They voted 7 to 1 to oppose student suffrage. Curator Don Walsworth said its all too complex for these youngsters, that “this is my 6th year and I’m certainly still learning.”

Give me a break. How insulting for the student rep to be relegated to the academic equivalent of a Junior G-Man. The other curators would do well to learn this:

MU students pony up the considerable tuition and fees and room and board and book expenses charged every year. In other words, they pay the bills. They should have a voting representative on the board that is responsible for ensuring they get their money’s worth.
