Some things are just…wrong
This editorial page sometimes is accused of moral relativism — believing there’s no such thing as absolute right and wrong. Malarkey. Some things are absolutely wrong. Such as skirts for men.
This from today’s Wall Street Journal Online:
“At the trend-setting men’s wear shows this week in Paris and Milan, skirt-like skorts for men have popped up on some runways.
Yohji Yamamoto’s version was so long, flowing and full that his culottes definitely straddled the skirt/pants line, while Yves Saint Laurent and Alexander McQueen showed more tailored styles in which the culottes silhouette was more defined.”
Come to think of it, if you’re a Scotsman, a kilt is O.K. But that’s the only exception.

Kevin Horrigan is deputy editor of the editorial page. He writes editorials on local, state and national politics and public policy and also contributes a signed column to the Sunday Commentary Page. "The Old Sport" is a former sports columnist for the Post-Dispatch and for 10 years hosted radio talk shows on KMOX and KTRS in St. Louis. He lives in South St. Louis with his wife, Kate, and a dream of one day starting a professional catfish noodling tour.
From the headline, I thought this editorial was about the Post’s second endorsement of Blagojevich, done in full knowledge that he had serious ethical issues. We still await the unqualified, full editorial board’s mea culpa for this horrible decision.
………….. is that Rasputin in the WSJ’s photo?
“Absolutely wrong”? Why? That is merely a statement of personal preference, not a logically reasoned position.
We have a new president chosen by Horrigan who says no lobbyists in his administration, but hires lobbyists. We have our next Treas Secy who is a liar and tax cheat, the AG wants to give rights to terrorists, the president is going to close Gitmo even though they get out and re-up with al Qaeda, the Clintons are dealing with China and running foreign policy, the U.S. is going to fund abortions worldwide, and al queda in Algeria were developing the plague and died from it. The PD’s Horrigan is writing about men wearing skirts. And anyone can wonder why Lee’s stock is in the 30’s?
What has happened to journalism in this country?
So the list of things the Post Disgrace finds “just wrong” now has two items on it, Men in skirts and Conservatives.
Sorry, folks. I was just trying to lighten the mood a bit. Go back to moping. I won’t bother you any more.
As the columnist Lewis Grizzard once wrote: it’s simply a thankless job.
