Open Thread: The Democratic National Convention

obamadolls2.jpgThe Democratic National Convention begins, with protester, marches and concerts. Michelle Obama speaks tonight in a speech that is expected to “introduce” herself and her family as regular, middle-class Americans who know what it means to struggle, to achieve and to love their country.

Sen. Joe Biden, the newly named vice presidential running mate of Sen. Barack Obama, will speak later in the week.

Sen. Hillary Clinton later this week will speak to the convention in what is called a unity speech. Most interesting could be the reaction of a group of Hillary supporters whose members call themselves PUMAs, an acronym for Party Unity My (expletive). These are the folks for whom the roll-call vote of delegates is being held, and who may protest loudest at the convention.

And Barack Obama, of course, is scheduled to speak on Thursday in a stadium in front of an estimated 70,000 people .

What’s on your mind this week as the Democrats try to unite under the banner of Obama-Biden? What are you expecting from the convention? What would you like to hear the candidates say?

I am enjoying watching all of the left-wing media pundits avoid using the word “gravitas” in regards to Biden as VP pick. Biden is old enough to be Obama’s bad for gosh sakes, but won’t say Obama needs “gravitas.” Why?

Twisted and not a hillary person (probably a KKKarl Rove plant!),

No matter how much you yappers complain, it will NEVER change the fact that John McCain is STILL too ignorant to be President of the United States!

Timmy,

I’m trying to understand you. Help me. Do people come into your room three times a day and spoon feed you?

What I would love to see is a full floor vote, but the Chosen One has already put the brakes on that. I suppose it is possible for either part of Billary to go off script. Ted Kennedy will be making an appearance, I see flashbacks to the wellstone political rally and funeral, “For Osama Obama”, Mary Jo Koepechne will be unable to attend. A huge rain storm Thursday would be cool, but hail stones the size of baseballs would be better. What I am pretty sure you WONT see or hear about this week are The Chosen One’s broke brother (and ignore that hole “I am my brothers keeper” crap) or JoePla’s lobbyist son.

You gotta love these right-wingers being so “concerned” about fairness for Hillary Clinton yet they’ve spent the last 16 years spreading hate against her and attacking everything she does.

The right is just playing the same game they always play where they criticize the Dem frontrunner on behalf of the other so-called underdogs. Let’s not forget righties loved Obama and talked about Hillary being “unfair” to him when she was front runner.

The Obama campaign has engaged in legal maneuvers attempting to cut off the advertising of the American Issues Project (http://www.americanissuesproject.org), a group hostile to Obama. I wonder, why does Obama believe is it ok for moveon.org to spend millions, but illegal for a conservative organization to do the same?
