McCain in his own words
John McCain’s speech should be interesting, coming the night after his running mate, Alaska Gov. Sarah Palin, rocked the house, rooting the base firmly in his camp.
He is expected to lay out policy in detail, to give further information on his life story and to build on the ground Palin and others laid earlier in the convention.
He undoubtedly will talk a lot about Iraq and the success of the surge, which already has been credited to him by tonight’s speakers.
This speech is one to watch.
What did you think of his speech?
And, perhaps more importantly, what is next in the campaign for McCain-Palin and Obama-Biden?

Did anyone else notice the Veteran with the VFW hat on from Overland Mo?
I did not notice, but I appreciate his service to our country.
What I have noticed this morning is a serious lack of enthusiasm here about McCain’s speech last night.
Checking yesterday’s message board between Sarah’s speech and 630a the next morning there were about 80 posts about her speech.
What happened to all the enthusiasm of Wednesday night?
Well, obviously supporters and dissenters alike just can’t get pumped up about what he delivered last night, especially compared to Wednesday nights hullaballoo it was just the same old tired stuff.
Our presidential campaigns are long, too long - this one 18 months and counting.
The endurance of our candidates under pressure combined with the endless travel, is apparently part of our process to pick a leader, you know - last candidate standing. Someone we can count on to maintain that sharp edge to protect us even when they are really dragging because of the horrendous schedule we demand of our leaders.
Sarah, is full of life - she’s only been in the campaign for 5 days and is 43.
Barack, is full of life - been campaigning strong for 18 months at 47.
John McCain is looking tired. It showed last night. Little zip while speaking and today’s it’s showing this morning.
All John’s supporters must be as drained as John. Few posts. Few comments. Virtually no enthusiasm the morning after his speech.
Boring speech, no substance. John STILL doesn’t know much about the economy.
McCain is STILL too ignorant to be President!
