Soon-to-be-former Alaska Gov. Sarah Palin

Soon-to-be-former Alaska Gov. Sarah Palin

Sarah Palin has announced that she will resign as governor of Alaska this month.

In a news conference from her home in Wasilla, Alaska, Palin announced Friday that she would resign later this month. The state’s lieutenant governor will assume the office of governor on July 26.

A CNN story quotes a source speaking on the condition of anonymity as saying Palin has accomplished all the goals she set out to accomplish. Much like our own Matt Blunt.  (It took Palin only three years. Poor Matt had to use his whole single term as governor to accomplish all his goals.)

In her announcement, she took heavy aim at the media and “politics as usual” for making it difficult for her to govern the state. She said putting her head down and working would be the easy thing to do. So instead she’s quitting.

She laid out her accomplishments in her three years as governor, placing special emphasis on a pipeline project that would deliver, she says, energy independence. She claimed victory over “frivolous” ethics charges that were politically motivated, and pointed out how expensive those complaints were for the state and for the Palins.

She said she knows she can “effect positive change from outside of government.”

The governor was the subject of an unflattering Vanity Fair story this month.

She’s already created the most positive change possible. She’s going outside of government.

Someone saying they’re impressed with Palin might as well be saying they’re impressed by fungi growing on a fallen tree.

In reply to “Stan”,
I respect differences of opinion, but…

What in the world could ever ‘impress’ you about this silly woman?
When asked, she genuinely could not name ONE major American newspaper. She thinks dinosaurs and people lived at the same time and that the earth is only some 6.000 years old! Her narcissistic megalomania rivals that of Donald Rumsfeld, a truly psychically disturbed individual… All in all, a very bad combination in a president, or a governor.
In my opinion, there must be some minimal education/intelligence level, some ability to think logically to hold high national office. Of course we just had 8 years of….

I am just curious as to what is the real reason/motive behind the madness of this decision of hers. This one is certainly beyond any guessing or anything that is obvious. I think this one we will just have to sit back, wait and see.

I think Charles Krauthammer’s comments the other day sealed the deal. She was never going to be elected President and she is smart enough to realize it. She now has the opportunity to cash in for millions of dollars in speaking engagements and a possible TV show. The outragageous comments by Letterman about her 14 year old girl probably also led her to think, “who needs this #$%^?” She can still articulate her views and live a great life and have much more fun. Her place in history is already secure. I don’t blame her a bit.

I believe Sarah Palin to be a good choice for president. She speaks with authority and intelligence. We need more leaders that view America on the
basis of liberty and freedom. I think Sarah would promote our nation as
a peaceful nation willing to help other nations in strife. I would welcome
her as a leader of our country who would deter senseless policies that harm
our image.

Anyone who does not like Palin is welcoming the end of One Nation under God and saying Hi to a One world government. I welcome someone who still has values as well as a sense of family. Hope to hear a lot more from Sarah, our country needs you.
