Soon-to-be-former Alaska Gov. Sarah Palin

Soon-to-be-former Alaska Gov. Sarah Palin

Sarah Palin has announced that she will resign as governor of Alaska this month.

In a news conference from her home in Wasilla, Alaska, Palin announced Friday that she would resign later this month. The state’s lieutenant governor will assume the office of governor on July 26.

A CNN story quotes a source speaking on the condition of anonymity as saying Palin has accomplished all the goals she set out to accomplish. Much like our own Matt Blunt.  (It took Palin only three years. Poor Matt had to use his whole single term as governor to accomplish all his goals.)

In her announcement, she took heavy aim at the media and “politics as usual” for making it difficult for her to govern the state. She said putting her head down and working would be the easy thing to do. So instead she’s quitting.

She laid out her accomplishments in her three years as governor, placing special emphasis on a pipeline project that would deliver, she says, energy independence. She claimed victory over “frivolous” ethics charges that were politically motivated, and pointed out how expensive those complaints were for the state and for the Palins.

She said she knows she can “effect positive change from outside of government.”

The governor was the subject of an unflattering Vanity Fair story this month.

1whisky,

Now who on earth of sound mind would be afraid of Sarah Palin in the political arena? It would be like Rush Limbaugh running for office, he would never become elected for anything but he does attract a certain sect of people, quite enough to make very successful radio show geared towards a very special sect and that makes him an extremely wealthy man.

I can see Sarah Palin being even more successful than Rush Limbaugh going in that direction. Your ilk will make her very rich and successful.

I knew that there had to be a motive to her madness. She is dumb as a fox and they ceratinly are not dumb, are they. I don’t see Sarah as unintelligent as some in error thinks that she is. She has her gifts, it is just that she don’t have the numbers needed to make it in politics and never will based on her platform, that is all that it is.(lol).

The truth be told none of our politicians have had what it take to run a good government because if they had what it took, we would not be in this condition today that President Obama is contending with presently. It has taken many, many, many years of incompetent politicians to get us to this place.

For every real or imagined gaffe committed by Sarah Palin, Joe Biden has been good for three, not to mention his numerous plagiarisms, self-aggrandizing thefts, misstatements, and exaggerations.

The difference, of course, is that Sarah Palin, at least for a while, presented a threat to the glorious ascension of “The One”, and for that it was essential that she be destroyed by the putrescence that is our liberal national media. And she was.

Sarah Palin dared to be what every politican knows one musn’t, and that was herself. The antithesis of Biden, she was humble, direct, honest and earnest, and for that she was belittled, dismissed, slandered and caricatured.

While Palin may not have been perfectly qualified to become vice-president or president, she was clearly at least as qualified as Obama, and as we have come to learn in a very short time, she is inarguably more worthy of being trusted with our collective wallets.

So while useful saps like E.J. Rotert regurgitate the “truth” about Palin as it is fed to them from a cynical socialist spoon, the rest of us might again ask ourselves why we never seen to have an opportunity to vote for real, honest people anymore, and instead are presented only with slickly packaged masters of deceit and debt epitomized by hucksters Biden and Obama.

1whisky… I’d suggest you take a Sociology 101 class. You need to get up to speed on the subject’s basics.

Dwalker - it was mentioned on a talk show this AM that she has been asked by NBC to have a talk show. Let’s see, Rachel Maddow or Sarah Palin?

Also, why was there so little in the press about SNL idiot Al Franken stealing the election? No one yet in the press has bothered to delve into his past and make personal attacks on him and don’t tell me there isn’t a lot of material there. He didn’t even bother to pay payroll taxes when he was at Air America.

The double standard in the media is a disgrace.

Safer than St. Louis… You’ve got to be kidding. Palin a threat to Obama? I’d relish the debates between the two if she ran in 2012. It would be like Socrates versus Elly May Clampett. Palin would probably break down and walk off stage. She’s already proven she’s a quitter.

1whisky… It’s called informing the public. It’s what promotes and guards democracy. You really don’t get it, do you?

Centrist,

Could you explain to me how Al Franken stole the election? Was it the activist judges? Or are they just activist when you don’t okay with their rulings? Damn I guess I should have harped on Bush v Gore after the ruling. I didn’t, Supreme Court made its ruling and that was that. George Bush became OUR president. Yes, I did say our president.
