You can blame the PD for the Rush Limbaugh smear for printing it! And Eddie, if this was your lame attempt to link us to a donation for Obama,
it didn’t work. But nice try. You guys are so lame and transparent. Find me a barf bucket!

Rats! You caught me, STOT!

You mean that link didn’t put you into a catatonic state and cause you to click the donate button, reach into your wallet, type in your credit card information, and make a handsome donation to the Obama campaign?

You must have a will of iron, STOT, to resist!

Note to the reality-based:

Smears passed around by whispers, digital or otherwise, hardly originated in this campaign cycle.

John McCain was victimized in his 2000 run for the GOP nomination.

Do you think the Obama Website can be effective against this kind of tactic?

Fortunately, some of us try to think above the level of this trash, which comes from both far ends of the political spectrum.

A thought for the Post-Dispatch: When you present a group of dissenting op-ed comments or blogs as in today’s paper, do you realize that your propaganda ploy of always presenting a liberal comment as the “last word” is very evident?

I went to an interview with Professor Allen. I found it interesting that her main concern was for the survival of the democracy. She refers back to the Federalist Papers for her reasoning.

The problem with the internet is that lies and misrepresntations can be spread quickly — especially those which appeal to unexamined prejudices. It is one thing to disagree with a person’s position, it is quite something else to make up lies about the person. The sad thing is that, especially after Bush & Cheney, we have become inured to lying. (And before my good friends on the reactionary wing say anything, I do not limit lying politicians to Bush & Cheney — they simply have raised it to an art form).

SC - do you mean like when the Editor’s Desk does a blog post like this one?

Fawning over Obama
By Steve Parker
St. Louis Post-Dispatch
Washington Bureau Chief Bill Lambrecht shares this sampling of pro-Obama comments in the national press.

You don’t think that is a great example of pushing an agenda Eddie? I think that just about sums it up for the PD. Yeah, I feel like I can expect fair and balanced coverage from the PD after that.

It is sad to see the blog forums of the P-D being used by some simply to bash liberals without furthering any discussion of issues. No mention of the issue at hand, just bashing.
So far the Obama campaign has been very effective at catching the ammunition aimed its way, and reversing the direction. For those who have learned the lessons of Rove, you realize that one technique the current adminstration & friends use is to attack the opposition by taking truth and turning it completely around, i.e. a war hero was actually wounded because he was drunk and hurt himself; a Christian, who was just recently being attacked because his minister of many years was ‘too radical’ is now actually found to be a Muslim (the radical minister attack didn’t work, so turn it completely around). The majority of Americans have grown weary of this rhetoric and that is why they want change. I do think the Obama campaign will have to be ever vigilent, though, as people will tend to remember the things they heard most or last.

“Do you think the Obama Website can be effective against this kind of tactic?”

By putting out their own distortions? Sure, and the media wing of the democrat party will gladly play along blissfully ignorant of the truth.

Funny you choice the McCain smear of 2000 not the Willie Horton (first mentioned be a democrat) or the 8 year campaign of Dan Rather and Mary Mapes to find something wrong with GWB’s service. You probably think it was mere coincidence that the DNC was starting a series of adds about GWB’s service the day after their media wing (DNCBS) falsified documents to smear a setting president.

Senior, we got the idea for the “propaganda ploy” via radio transmission from a black helicopter.

STOT, a news article pointing out pro-Obama excesses in the press (”fawning”) or pro McCain excesses is not proof of bias. It’s proof of balance - and self criticism. And by the way, Your third comment to this post was deleted because of the smear you attempted to propagate. Continue that and you will not be allowed to post comments.

SVPPB, this is pretty basic: one wrong doesn’t justify another wrong. It just means there are two wrongs. If you want peace, start talking sense.

So there are some people who believe that Barak Obama is a secret agent of Osama Bin Laden, and thanks to Mr. Obama’s website, everyone knows the truth about this horrible distortion. Now, for the truth: Mr. Obama is a public agent of George McGovern and George Soros.

The fact is, his voting record and personal history make it very clear that there’s not a far-left cause with which Obama is not allied. Add to that his lifelong friendship with bigots of a very specific type, an endless stream of lies and misrepresentations, and a picture emerges of a man who, though a slick speaker, is indeed quite dangerous to America. No, he wouldn’t fly airplanes into skyscrapers. But he would push our government and economy over a cliff, ultimately resulting in damage far more serious than the horrific death of a few thousand Americans.

Sadly, many Americans are so disillusioned with the war in Iraq, which is about to come to a successful conclusion, that they are willing to vote for a destructive radical who promises to end the war. News flash, lefties: The war is already winding down, and Obama won’t end it any faster than McCain will. But hey, if you want huge tax increases and a bankrupt federal government which will enslave your children to pay off its debt, by all means vote for Obama.

Mr. Roth, I was NOT propogating a smear, although the PD did involve itself in a smear when it posted a picture of Mrs. McCain next to a lobbyist associated with Mr. McCain. I applauded the PD for not repeating the Obama smear. And don’t you ever threaten me again, even if you don’t believe in free speech, which of course you don’t since you are a lefty. Please tell me why an Obama smear was treated differently than a McCain smear.
