Hannah to meet with Anderson on Tuesday
Suspended Missouri senior guard Stefhon Hannah, who has spent the last two weeks at his
home in Chicago, will meet with coach Mike Anderson on Tuesday to discuss his future with the basketball team. Hannah was supposed to meet with Anderson on Monday, but his flight was delayed because of bad weather in St. Louis.
“I’ll get a chance to sit down and visit with him and we’ll visit on everything,” Anderson said.
When, and if, the two sit down Tuesday, it will be the first time the two have talked face-to-face since they spoke in the hospital after Hannah suffered a broken jaw as a result of a fight with a couple workers at Athena Night Club in Columbia on Jan. 27.
Hannah has been back to Columbia once since the incident – last Friday when he was arrested and released by Columbia police on suspicion of third-degree assault at Athena. He went back to Chicago afterward. Forward Leo Lyons was one of the few players who said he knew Hannah was in town after speaking with him on the phone. Several other players said they didn’t know he was in town until asked by the media.
Anderson did not say whether Hannah would be allowed to rejoin the team despite not being able to play through the end of the regular season because of his injury. However, Hannah’s absence from Mizzou the last two weeks has not helped his cause.
Unlike the other suspended players – Lyons, Jason Horton, Darryl Buttefield and Marshall Brown – Hannah hasn’t been able to do any of the off-court punishment – extra running, early practice, etc. – to get himself back in the good graces of his teammates and coaches. He also hasn’t apologized to teammates and coaches the way the other suspended players have.
Most importantly, Hannah hasn’t been around to support the teammates he left in the lurch by his absence.
“There’s some things, if in fact he was here, that he’d be able to do, but he hadn’t because he’s not here,” Anderson said.
if guilty of team/society rules …………………………kick him off the team……………….
i am all for extra chances……..he had a rough life etc…………..
BUT MIZZOU BASKETBALL ……..NEEDS INTEGRITY…………………
