Safety William Moore and linebacker Sean Weatherspoon were named to the Bronko Nagurki watch list on Monday by the Football Writers Association of America. The award is given annually to the nation’s best defensive player.

This is the second watch list honor for Moore and Weatherspoon. Both were also mentioned on the Lott Trophy watch list, which honors the nation’s defensive IMPACT player of the year, where IMPACT is an acronym for Integrity, Maturity, Performance, Academics, Community and Tenacity.

Moore, who sat out all of spring football while recovering from surgery on a torn labrum, tied for the NCAA lead with eight interceptions last season and was second on the team with 117 tackles. Weatherspoon, who also had surgery to repair a torn labrum, led Mizzou with 130 tackles, which is tops among Big 12 returning players.
