NASCAR’s Edwards inspiring Columbia appearance

From Reid Laymance: NASCAR driver Carl Edwards, a Columbia resident, and frequent text message partner of football coach Gary Pinkel, surprised the team one morning this summer.
“Our guys are usually out there at 6:30 and I get a call one day from Pat Ivey (assistant AD) that when our guys got there, Edwards was already running the steps at the stadium. And this was on a Monday after he had raced the day before. He later came down and talked with our guys. It was nice for them to see that kind of dedication.”
