The University of Missouri men’s basketball team will play Xavier on Nov. 20 in the opening round of the Puerto Rico Tip-Off it was announced Wednesday

The eight-team field also includes Memphis, which went 37-1 last season, as well as Virginia Tech, USC, Seton Hall, Fairfield and Tennessee-Chattanooga. The winner of the Missouri-Xavier game (ESPNU, 11:30 a.m.) will play Fairfield or Virginia Tech at 9:30 a.m. Nov. 21.

Missouri would not play Memphis unless the teams reached the same stage of the bracket on Nov. 23. Xavier went 30-7 last season and finished at No. 7 in the final Associated Press poll.

Missouri went 16-16 last season, 6-10 in the Big 12 Conference.
