No “Gameday” here

ESPN is showing the Missouri-Illinois game in primetime Saturday (7:35 p.m.) but isn’t sending its College Gameday crew for a day of broadcasting on the streets outside the Edward R. Jones Dome.

Instead, Lee Corso, Kirk Herbstreit, Chris Fowler and Desmond Howard, will be set up in Atlanta for another matchup of regional teams at a neutral site. That’s where No. 9 Clemson plays No. 24 Alabama in primetime on ABC.

Doesn’t sound much sexier a matchup than No. 6 Missouri and No. 20 Illinois. Must be the Nick Saban factor.

ESPN has to play up to the Red Soxs/Yankees during baseball and during college football they have to play up to the SEC. I’m sure Mizzou will make a couple College Gameday appearences this year.

This news came out weeks, if not months ago. Way to keep up P-D!
