SI: Tigers No. 4, and on the cover

Actually, the Missouri Tigers are featured on “a” cover, so perhaps the infamous Sports Illustrated “Cover Jinx” won’t apply.

SI’s college football preview edition hits the stands today with Mizzou ranked No. 4 in the nation.

Each of the top five teams — Georgia, Ohio State, USC, Mizzou and Florida, in order — graces one of SI’s “regional covers” for the college preview edition.

Here’s a sneak peek at the Mizzou cover:

SI’s bottom line for Mizzou and its national title chances: “If the Tigers get past Illinois in their opener, they will cruise through September undefeated. Heading into conference play, Mizzou should be … off to the races.”

FYI, Sports Illustrated ranks Oklahoma No. 6, Texas Tech No. 8, Texas No. 13 and Kansas No. 15.

i liked it better when we flew under the radar….does anyone remember the hype that the b-ball team got when paulding and johnson were seniors? they were preseason #4, and they tanked big time. lets not get caught up in the hype just yet. after they destroy the illini, they have a cakewalk until the neb. game. we never do well in lincoln, and then we have to face texas in austin, which is also scary. if we get past those two games undefeated, pencil us in the bcs championship…if not, maybe the orang….i mean the cotton bowl.

Nice to see the cover of the Sports Illistrated with the Tigers! Out here on the West Coast it’s only USC all the time, everytime! Boring! Go Tigers!
