Nebraska coach Bo Pelini and Mizzou coach Gary Pinkel both said the case was closed on charges that a Nebraska player spit on Chase Daniel during Saturday’s game.

“We communicated with Missouri, and investigated and addressed the allegations and at this point it’s a moot issue,” Pelini said.

Asked if there was any truth to what Daniel’s charges, Pelini replied: “It’s a lot of ‘he said-he said’ — you know what I’m saying? I don’t think either coaching staff was really aware of it and we did our investigation and it’s over.”

Asked if it ever became clear which player was accused, he said: “It was a little bit gray.”

Pinkel said, “We’ve communicated with Nebraska (Sunday), and as far as I’m concerned from a Missouri standpoint, it’s a dead issue. I’m not going to comment on it.”

Daniel and the MU players meet the media this afternoon in Columbia. If they have any more to say, we’ll let you know.

Why would Daniels say something like this after such a big win? It just makes him look dumb and whiny.

It’s “Daniel”. No “s”.

What an ignorant comment. If you knew anything about Chase’s character and what type of player/person he is you would know he wouldn’t lie about something like this. Chase gets fired up enough to where he doesn’t need any extra motivation for a game, especially one against Nebraska on national tv. If Chase says a player spit on him, I for one believe him. And as far as Pelini claiming it to be a “he said-he said” situation, then that’s fine by me, but I’m sure it happened.

Oh well, we’re done with Nebraska, time to focus on Oklahoma St.

I agree sounds like a high school player. Could be one of the reasons he wont be playing on sundays.

2 things society frowns on, liars and thieves. Chase is batting .500 as far as we know. Wouldn’t be shocked if he is batting 1.000.

A better question to ask than:

Why would Daniels say something like this after such a big win?

is

Why would Daniels say something like this after such a big win (If it wasn’t true)?

If mizzou lost, I might think, well he was just bitter, but they Stomped Nebraska, I don’t see any reason he would say it unless it was true.

It just makes him look dumb and whiny.

OK. I don’t know what you do for a living, but you say you just edged out a co-worked for a promotion and they come up and spit on you. You would just say oh well thats ok for him to spit on me, I won. I don’t think so. You’re headed straight to HR. (Or better yet deck the guy). I wouldn’t advise decking the guy for Chase then he gets thrown out of the game, maybe thats what the nebraska player hoped for. However, no way do you just let it slide just because you won.

The score pretty well says it all - I would think Nebraska wouldn’t want to rile Chase Daniel or the other Tigers just before the start of the game!

Well last year he came out after a win and called thier defense high school. Certainly not a classy comment from a winning team player. Now this year he says that Nebraska was dirty and spit on him. Seems it is something every year with Nebraska and Chase. Did they not recruit him and he wanted to go there?

Look at all the idiotic Nebraska fans coming here to post garbage. Talk about confirming a stereotype of Nebraksa Cornhusker fans..

Then again, I guess I can’t blame them for resorting to posting dumb stuff on internet forums, when their team gets blown out in the home stadium in front of the entire nation on prime time TV.
