A lot has been made about how fast the Tigers are scoring on offense. If you figure out points per minute, they are tied with Tulsa for No. 1 in the nation with 2.05 points per minute of possession on offense.

A quick look at top five in points per minute and then in top five in points per game and top five in possession:

Points per minute:

1. Missouri, 2.05

1. Tulsa, 2.05

3. Texas Tech, 1.62

4. Oklahoma, 1.61

4. Kansas State, 1.61

Points per game

1. Tulsa, 56.4

2. Missouri, 53.4

3. Oklahoma State, 52.6

4. Oklahoma, 49.6

5. Texas Tech, 48.2

Time of possession

1. TCU, 37:09

2. Tulane, 35:54

3. UTEP, 35:32

4. Utah, 34:03

5. Colorado State, 33:46

What’s it all mean? Who knows but scoreboard generally says it all. One point to consider is that Oklahoma State is 10th in time of possession and third in scoring at 52.6. The Cowboys are the only team in the top 10 in both categories. If they keep the ball away from Mizzou’s offense and are as proficient at scoring as they have been, that could be an interesting mix for Saturday’s game.
