What the shutout of Colorado means to MU

You don’t think a shutout was important to the Tigers this week? Just check out the starters on the field for the last drive by Colorado.

After giving up big plays and yards in the loss to Texas the week before, the 58-0 win over Colorado was just the tonic. It was the first time Colorado had been shut out in 242 games, the third longest streak in the nation.

Now, the Tigers are 6-2 and in a 3-way tie for the top spot in the Big 12 North. Coach Gary Pinkel didn’t want to look past 5:30 Saturday this week, and we’re sure it will be the same mantra for Saturday’s game at Baylor.

That doesn’t mean we can’t look ahead. Here’s how it plays out for MU:

Nov. 1, at Baylor: The Bears are 1-3 in the Big 12 South with a new coach and a freshman quarterback.

Nov. 8, vs. Kansas State: KState played OU even for almost a half this week before falling, 58-35.

Nov. 15, at Iowa State: The Cyclones have shown signs of getting a big win but have come up short.

That’s three very winnable games which would put Mizzou at 9-2 heading into the final regular season game against Kansas at Arrowhead.

A win there and the Tigers are 10-2 and in the Big 12 title game. The opponent is still up in the air. Undefeated Texas Tech hosts Texas this week but Oklahoma and Oklahoma State are still in the South picture.

It would be interesting to see how the Tigers would respond to a rematch with the Longhorns or Cowboys. But that’s getting a bit down the road.

Also, too early to tell if Chase Daniel’s 300-yard, 5-TD game was enough to get him back on the Heisman radar. Colt McCoy and Tim Tebow had good numbers in wins this week as well and arOne thing to note, of the Big 12 teams on Missouri’s schedule this season, the only ones to get a win this Saturday were Texas and Nebraska.

This is so great to be talking about big 12 north championships and heisman list. people with memories will remember the days when the Tigers hoped to play .500 for the season. People need to enjoy this great time in Tiger football.
