BCS expert predicts Oklahoma will move up to face Missouri

If Oklahoma, Texas and Texas Tech all win this week, one BCS analyst predicted that Oklahoma would move up in the computer rankings and take the top spot among Big 12 teams. That would give the Sooners the Big 12 South title based on tiebreaker and put them in the Big 12 title game against Missouri.

“I’m leaning toward Oklahoma,” BCS analyst Jerry Palm told the New York Times. “They’re ahead in both polls now, and will gain ground in the computers this week and next week. If they beat Oklahoma State on Saturday, they’ll gain ground in both polls again. I’m not very optimistic for Texas in a three-way-tie scenario.”

That would be so wrong. I don’t understand how voters can vote OU ahead of Texas, when Texas beat them head to head on a neutral field. Texas lost to Tech in Lubbuck on a flukey play. OU beat them in Norman. If that game is in Austin I guarantee Texas wins over Tech. The Horns would get screwed if this happens.

I agree with KB, UT beat OU so how do they pass Texas to play in the Big 12 finale? PLAYOFF system NOW please!

UMMMM, a playoff system wouldn’t really affect who would play in the Big 12 championship game. Using the logic in these posts, if there is a 3-way tie, Texas can’t go because they lost to Tech. Tech can’t go because they lost to OU. OU can’t go because they lost to Texas. What method do you all propose to solve the dilemma? Point spreads? My guess is OU still goes, because they whomped Tech by more points than Texas beat OU. Shared opponents? Not at issue with the same records. Human poll numbers? You still have OU in the championship game.

If there is a 2-team tie, then head-to-head match-up wins.

A few words from a Sooners fan: Jerry Palm is one wise man.

Anyone who has actually watched the games knows Texas is the best team in the Big 12 and the country. Instead of running his mouth lobbying the voters in the BcS polls Cry Baby Stoops should have spent his time preparing for his game Saturday night. State will make him eat his words!
Then after Mizzou drills T Tech, watch the Longhorns win the BcS title game.
