Big 12 in Gator Bowl mix after Notre Dame loss

Notre Dame’s 24-23 loss to Syracuse Saturday pretty much knocks the Irish out of being attractive enough for the Gator B0wl (unless they beat USC to go 7-5).

The Gator Bowl had been looking at Notre Dame to pair against an ACC team.

But with that loss, the bowl now will pick either a Big East team or a Big 12 team.

If the Gator were to go Big 12, the selection order after the BCS bowls would be:

Cotton

Holiday

Gator

Alamo

So after we destroy kU, we will still be looking at Holiday bowl after a loss or Fiesta after a win in the big 12 championship.

Holiday bowl it is.

Unless Holiday takes Ok. State…

I hope Mizzou get the Jan 1 Gator bowl game. If they don’t get the automatic BCS, it is always better to play on Jan. 1.

ESPN’s Mark Schlabach has Missouri playing Florida State in the Gator Bowl in the Week 13 projections. That would be a great match-up and a nice crowd.
