The USA Today Coaches’ poll moved Oklahoma all the way to No. 2 after its win over Texas Tech. Missouri stayed at No. 11.

This is a good indication that Oklahoma may end up as the top Big 12 South team when the BCS standings come out later today. What does that mean to Missouri? If the Big 12 South ends in a three-way tie, the BCS standings will be the tiebreaker to determine which team Missouri plays in the Big 12 title game on Dec. 6 in Kansas City.

The coaches’ poll is one-third of the BCS formula. The coaches’ top 10:

1. Alabama; 2. Oklahoma, 3. Florida, 4. Texas, 5. Southern Cal, 6. Penn State, 7. Utah, 8, Texas Tech, 9. Boise State, 10. Ohio State.

Bob Stoops’ fifth-ranked Oklahoma Sooners delivered the Texas Tech Red Raiders football program its worst defeat ever — that’s right, EVER! — a 65-21 drubbing Saturday night at The Gaylord Family Memorial Stadium in Norman. More importantly, however, the boys in Crimson ‘n’ Cream sent a strongly-worded message to the rest of the college football nation: “We’re back and ready to contend for another national title.”
