KANSAS CITY — The first half at Arrowhead Stadium today was lopsided, but not in the direction the oddsmakers and Missouri fans might have expected.

The Mizzou offense was a disaster as the Jayhawks were methodical in building a 19-10 halftime lead that could have been worse if not for an interception in the end zone that halted a Kansas drive. How bad have the Tigers been today?

Chase Daniel didn’t have his first completion until there were 13 minutes 42 seconds left in the second quarter.

Mizzou’s biggest play of the half was a 48-yard scramble by Daniel, who fumbled at the end of the play with Kansas recovering.

Kansas had possession for 21:34 to Mizzou’s 8:26 and ran 44 offensive plays to the Tigers’ 27.

Meanwhile, Kansas quarterback Todd Reesing didn’t seem to mind the constant light snowfall, completing 21 of 24 passes for 181 yards and two touchdowns. His second TD toss found receiver Dexton Fields a good seven yards behind the Missouri defense.

Daniel kept the Tigers close by directing a 62-yard, eight-play drive that ended with Chase Coffman catching a 5-yard touchdown pass. Coffman has been limited today because of a bout with turf toe.

But Kansas kept pressure on Daniel much of the half. It paid off after the Jayhawks pinned the Tigers at their own 2-yard line. Daniel was under center for the first-down play but in the shotgun on second down. Jake Laptad got his hands on Daniel deep in the end zone and a pass attempt was called intentional grounding resulting in a safety and a 12-7 Kansas lead.

Fields scored his touchdown on the ensuing possession to give the Jayhawks a 19-7 lead. Jeff Wolfert kicked a 48-yard field goal late in the half to make it 19-10.

Kansas had 216 total yards in the first half, Missouri had 152.
