Missouri signed 6-10 forward Keith Dewitt from Charis Prep in North Carolina to a basketball letter of intent.

Dewitt played just one season of high school ball at Andrews High in High Point, N.C., before transferring to Charis Prep in Goldsboro, where he played two years. The team is off to an 11-0 start.

“Keith gives us a guy of size and great athletic ability,” basketball coach Mike Anderson said. He’s an instinctive, skilled forward and he plays the game with a lot of passion and energy. He fills an important need for us with both DeMarre (Carroll) and Leo (Lyons) graduating after this season, so we feel like he’ll be able to help us in a lot of areas.”

Dewitt averaged 16.9 points, 11.1 rebound and 3.4 blocks last season.

Dewitt will be the third Charis Prep School standout on the Missouri roster. Junior guard Zaire Taylor played his prep basketball at the Goldsboro, N.C., school, as did current Tiger sophomore Justin Safford.
Dewitt selected Missouri over offers from Florida State, Oklahoma, Oklahoma State, Nebraska, West Virginia, North Carolina State and Miami (Fla.).

Why did Mizzou get this 6-10 guy? does he weight like 150 pounds or something?

They signed him to add some size up front considering the loss of Leo and Demarre. Not to mention he will actually play in the post unlike Leo. Nothing wrong with signing athletic big men.

A kid with that type of sizes can only help coach anderson and what he’s trying to do.
