Texas No. 2 in BCS standings; Oklahoma 3
In a bit of a surprise, Texas moved up to No. 2 in the BCS standings with Oklahoma third.
That means in the event of a three-way tie in the Big 12 South, Texas would win the tiebreaker and face Missouri in the Big 12 title game.
That assumes of course the rankings hold after next week’s games. Texas faces Texas A&M and Oklahoma is at Oklahoma State. Texas Tech faces Baylor.
Texas, Oklahoma and Texas Tech are all tied for first in the Big 12 South with 6-1 records. By Big 12 tiebreakers, all are even until the fifth step, which is BCS rankings.
The computers gave Texas the edge. All the results aren’t out yet but we’ll back with more when they are.
The BCS top 10: 1. Alabama, 2. Texas, 3. Oklahoma, 4. Florida, 5. Southern Cal, 6. Utah, 7. Texas Tech, 8. Penn State, 9. Boise State, 10. Ohio State.
