Tigers 13th in AP, coaches’ polls
The Tigers moved up one spot in both the AP (writers’) and USA Today (coaches’) polls this week after their 31-28 win over Baylor.
Alabama is the new No. 1 in both polls but after that, there’s some disagreement on where to put the top four teams of the Big 12 South.
The top 10s:
AP: 1. Alabama, 2. Texas Tech, 3. Penn State, 4. Florida, 5. Texas, 6. Oklahoma, 7. Southern Cal, 8. Oklahoma State, 9. Boise State and 10. Utah.
USA Today: 1. Alabama, 2. Penn State, 3. Texas Tech, 4. Oklahoma, 5. Florida, 6. Southern Cal, 7. Texas, 8. Oklahoma State, 9. Utah and 10. Boise State.
There promises to be more shakeups after this week as Oklahoma State is at Texas Tech and unbeaten TCU plays Utah.
That leaves MU, with an easier schedule, in good spot to move back up into the top 10.
Mizzou showed once again that they have a worldclass Offense
What keeps them from being a top five (5) team is a so-so defense.
They can’t throttle a high powered Offense such as Texas,Oklahoma, Okie State,TTU, Texas A&M, LSU, Georgia, Florida, or USC.
Defense should be Pinkel’s top priority now. Adding Offensive toys looks good when you are playing against inferior opponents, but Defense wins Championships, just ask Mike Martz who went Offense “Crazy” when he was here. When you come up against a Defense that can control your Offense, you had better be able to control them, otherwise, side out, case closed!
Not hating, just stating the obvious!
This is the best program that we have had since Dan Devine!
When Missouri can actually be competitive with the Big 12 South, it will be time to get excited. Big 12 North is a 2nd tier conference.
