A wake-up call for Derrick Washington
The San Antonio Express News gives a fun report on Derrick Washington, who overslept one morning this week in San Antonio. He raced out of his hotel room and saw no sign of the bus that was supposed to take him and his Missouri teammates to an area ranch, he knew his tardiness would cost him.
And that is how, one day later, he found himself running five consecutive 200-yard gassers — down the length of the football field and back, dropping to the ground and climbing back up at the end of each trip — a coach screaming a favorite catchphrase in his ear throughout the ordeal.
“Show ‘em what you know, Derrick!” offensive coordinator Dave Christensen yelled. “Show ‘em what you know!”
“And what made it worse,” Washington said, somehow both wincing and smiling, “was it was on Christmas.”
It would be nice if Christensen knew something - like how to line up to get 1 or 2 yards when you need them.
