Northwestern coach Pat Fitzgerald said running back Tyrell Sutton continues to get better as he tries to make his first appearance since Oct. 25 when he injured his hand.

“Maybe initially when Tyrell (Sutton) came back he had a little rust,” Fitzgerald said after Tuesday’s practice. “This is I think his fifth practice now or his fourth practice so he’s getting a little bit better. Every day he’s getting a little more confident and every day we’re getting him in better shape. We’ve added some quality depth with guys going down. We’re still missing a lot of key components and I think that’s what is so impressive about our football team this year is our ability to persevere and fight through those injures.”
