The Toledo Blade is reporting the school has made its choice for head football coach and it’s not Missouri defensive coordinator Matt Eberflus.

The school is going with Oklahoma State’s Tim Beckman, the defensive coordinator for the Cowboys.

Eberflus interviewed with the school on Sunday.

I was hoping this guy would leave. We need someone who can make players better. Their defense has been the weak point for a couple of years now.

Couple of years? Defense has been the weak spot for a long time, and when you return 8 or 9 guys on defense and have a lousy year against lousy teams (save Texas, Ok st), you gotta go. I’m not a big Pinkel fan, and his inability to get his defense on-line is a big reason. Pinkel should have fired Eberflus if Pinkel is truly trying to improve his program.

If you want defense watch the SEC. If you want offense, the Big XII is it this season. Eberflus will be fine. Hopefully Beckham’s selection will motivate the guy to actually earn a promotion. Eberflus should study Will Muschamp’s scheme before next season.

As for Saturday, I hope MU goes out there and leaves nothing in the tank on every hit. I watched K-State do this to Texas last year, and they won. Tackle hard, make OU hear footsteps and let’s see who comes out on top.

MU’s pass defense has been horrific. The DB’s have to get in sync. No question there.

FIGHT TIGER!

Darn, I thought he would be gone. Pinkel is too much of a wimp to fire him, so he will be here for the long haul.

I am wondering maybe Missouri will fall next year since Offense Coorodinator is gone and the defense has gotten worst. Will Missouri be in big trouble next year? I hope I am wrong.

There is naturally going to be a fall because of losing so many weapons. However, the defense has always struggled and never had a big stop when needed. We will be down next year, but I think there are important pieces coming to Mizzou that will make them good in two years. My concern is that there is more young talent contributing early at Kansas than at Missouri. Mangino and his staff does a great job of making players better. I hate Kansas, but they have out coached Pinkel since he has been here.

Eberflus should be canned and Toledo made a good choice, head to head Beckman is a better coach.

I wish Toledo would have hired Eberflus. Mizzou’s defense continues to get ripped apart, and not only by highly ranked teams. They have let weaker unranked teams score way too many points against us. That can’t happen if we ever want to seriously contend for a BCS bowl.
