As Missouri began workouts for the Alamo Bowl today in Columbia, the Post-Dispatch’s Vahe Gregorian gives us this tidbit on receiver Jeremy Maclin who asked if the Dec. 29 game against Northwestern would be his last as a Tiger.

“I don’t know,” said Maclin, who explained that he wanted “to chill a bit” before evaluating where the NFL projects him to go in the draft before deciding to leave school early. Maclin said there’s more to the decision than just being a first-round pick. “There’s a lot more you’ve got to factor into it.”

It’s worth noting that in the Scouts Inc. rankings, Maclin is listed as the No. 7 overall draft prospect of seniors and underclassmen. Scouts Inc. describes his best asset as speed and the biggest concern of his readiness as “unpolished route runner.”

Mid-January is normally the deadline for players to declare for the draft.

Maclin said he would talk with coach Gary Pinkel, receivers coach Andy Hill and new offensive coordinator David Yost as part of his decision process.

Maclin, from Kirkwood, led the Tigers with 95 catches for 1,221 yards, added 250 rushing and 1,175 in kick and punt returns. He scored 15 touchdowns.

I think other factors will move to the forefront. First, are his numbers w/ Daniel more likely to get him drafted that his numbers w/ a 1st yr. Gabert? Yes! However, As Maclin’s numbers are Great! Scouts will soon learn that he’s not ready to be a 1st rounder. He has great speed (but didn’t Brad Smith?). However, he lacks instincts, runs straight up, has average hands, needs work on running routes & reads blocks poorly. Simply said, there’s really not much separating him from Brad Smith’s skill set. A quality player…maybe. A 1st rounder?…no! The scouts will figure that out–but, hopefully he won’t have already hired an agent by then.

Oh Well, let’s sit on the edge of our fuggin seat while some half-wit makes up his mind. THIS SITE IS COMPLETELY WORTHLESS! THE POST-DISPATCH IS TRULY IN ITS LAST DEATH THROES AS A DISINFORMATION SITE FOR THE DUMB USELESS RUST BELT ST. LOUIS POPULATION.

Oh Well, aren’t you a happy person? The positive vibes are just oozing from you. Your parents must be proud. I since some unanswered issues brewing here. It must kill you to think that another person with abilities has choices in their lives rather than put down the whole world on a paper than you find useless but obviously read anyway. I hope spomething good happens for you, you need it.

If I was the kind of typical programmed retard that posts on these kinds of sites, I would post:

“my thoughts and prayers go out to the family and friends of Jeremy Maclin while he ponders this difficult decision”

BUT….. I’m not, so I won’t

why the he ll are you posting a response to a sports column if your not a fan? why are you even reading this then?

amazing, i dont know why i even ask, really just wanted to point out how much of an ace you look like.

hopefully maclin decides to stay, but i couldnt blame him for going. either way, best of luck to em. i do agree somewhat with the comment about him and BSmith, only thing though is I think JMac has a bit more speed than Smith did. Smith had moves, but both are comparable. Maclin needs to beef up a bit to play on sundays, which im sure he will over time.
