Maclin repeats as All-American
The Associated Press announced its 2008 All-American team today and Mizzou’s sophomore standout Jeremy Maclin was once again named to the first team as the all-purpose player.
Maclin was a unanimous pick in 2007 for the same position as a freshman.
Tigers senior tight end Chase Coffman joined Maclin on the first team. It’s the second straight year a Tiger tight end was an All-American as Coffman succeeded Martin Rucker from last year’s first team. Both Maclin and Rucker were consensus All-Americans last year.
Tigers junior linebacker Sean Weatherspoon also earned recognition on the AP’s third team. He was joined by Illinois junior cornerback Vontae Davis, the only Illini honored on any of the teams.
STLtoday.com sports producer Neil Joellenbeck, an 11-year veteran of the Post-Dispatch, blogs on what the rest of the nation is saying about STL sports.
What is the real thoughts of Maclin opting for the draft? If he is just going to test the waters I sure hope he doesn’t get an agent.
He doesnt need to test the waters, he is a first round pick right now. As a big mizzou fan I hate to see him go, but see no reason he should stay. Looking forward to watching him shine on sundays.
As a Kirkwood High and Mizzou grad, I’d selfishly love to see J-Mac back in black and gold for another year. But, I just can’t see any logical reason for him to return. Scout’s Inc. (ESPN.com) has him rated as the 7th best prospect in the country. Don’t risk the injury Jeremy, go get your money. If you still want to finish your education you can pay for it in full when your playing days are up.
Congrats to all 3 players.
How is Jeff Wolfert not an All-American kicker? Crazy man! I understand the rest, but come on.
I know the Rams have many needs but Maclin on the Rams would be cool.
Jeremy does have something to come back for- a big 12 and possible national championship
