Minnesota plays home games in a dome, it won’t be 105 in the summer during off season workouts and he gets to play for a big time basketball coach in Tubby Smith. Sounds like a good deal to me. Good luck to the young man.
The goofers will have a new outdoor stadium next year. I’m not sure I would call them an up and coming team. They lost their last game to Iowa 55-0.
“I’m curious to know the concern- if any- of many like mizzoujosh since his/their sentiments is that Maplewood doesn’t produce quality athletes; by the way, you may be right, but who cares because I believe it to be safe to assume that you did not contribute to the tuition fund.”
what?? hey bro trust me I don’t care at all im just telling you thats a sh** school that DOESNT PRODUCE D1 ATHLETES…furthermore if this guy was so great and gonna win the hiesman i dont think he woulda been considering Ill state just call me crazy
1. The fact that a school the size of Maplewood can produce a DI athlete good enough to play in the Big 10 is notable.
2. As good as he is (yes, I’ve seen him play), two sports at that level is too difficult. He’ll end up choosing one.
3. If it’s true that Frazier is going, too, then the familiarity is a positive draw for Allen.
4. The Big 10 is far superior to anything in the Big 12 North. Who want’s to get waxed by Oklahoma every year?
Good choice Bryant, must have been lured by the weather!
Best of luck to him, but come on, Minnesota???? That is a very average, at best, program in a very weak Big 10 conference. He will NEVER be a Heismann candidate playing there. As for B-ball, Kentucky ran Tubby Smith off. He could only win with Rick Pitino’s old players. Never did anything on his own. Plus, absolutely BRUTAL winters. OUCH!!!
jj double j,
You forgot to add that he’ll also have the pleasure of playing outdoors when the new U of M stadium is completed. It is a shame, though, when you think about the talent (most notably the guy up in NE) that the U has snatched from MO. It reminds me of Wisconsin (the Fletchers) back in the late 80’s and 90’s.
Mizzoujosh, thanks to Bryant Allen Maplewood won Conference titles in football back to back years for the first time in 29 years, and he led them to a state championship in basketball last season, its just ashame that the school you attended “Rosati Kain” doesnt have football. quit being a sore sport, hes a good kid and with Mizzous defense, would you want to go there as a DB ???
I hope he breaks his leg
Really? Most of the posts on here are so negative. WHY? I can’t believe the majority of the posters for this article can be so cruel. I commend those who are sincere in their well wishes for this young man. He made this choice for the best interests of himself and his family. Bryant Allen is a VERY motivated person. Did you here him after his press conference? His next goal is to win the Heisman Trophy. His skills in both football and basketball are just superior to 99.9% of the athletes in this area. Good luck to you, Bryant, and congratulations on such a big decision in your life.
