Gateway Tech tight end/defensive end Sheldon Richardson, who gave Missouri a “soft” commitment in June, told Post-Dispatch correspondent Nate Latsch that he will wait until signing day on Feb. 4 to announce his college decision.

Since committing to Missouri in the summer, Richardson has received more offers and has opened himself up to look at more schools and also take official visits to other schools. But he still has an allegiance to the Tigers.

“I’m still somewhat committed,” said Richardson, who is 6 feet 4 and weighs 295 pounds. “Somewhat.”

Recently, Florida extended a scholarship offer, while Southern Cal let Richardson know it is interested. Richardson said he is interested in Missouri, Minnesota, Miami and Florida and may be interested in Arkansas and Southern Cal. He has made an official visit to Minnesota and plans to visit Missouri on Dec. 19. He has a visit scheduled to Arkansas on Jan. 10, but could instead visit Florida that weekend, two days after the Gators play in the national championship against Oklahoma. He will visit Miami on Jan. 17.

Latsch will have more on Richardson and other Missouri prospects in Tuesday’s editions of the Post-Dispatch.

Nothing like playing Big Time Ball in your own back yard. I mean, when you go on to do things after college, you want to do it among your fan base–makes life much easier!

This kid is big to Mizzou. Recruiting is life blood and to lose him to a FL, USC would again slow the progression of this program
