Sean Weatherspoon, the defensive player of the game in Missouri’s 30-23 overtime over Northwestern in the Alamo Bowl, said he would be back for his senior season.

He had filed paperwork with the NFL to see where he might land in the draft. His teammate and roommate Jeremy Maclin also filed the paperwork but wasn’t ready to commit to his return to school just yet.

“He’s my roommate, I think I can convince him,” Weatherspoon said, putting his arm around Maclin at the post-game press conference.

For the record, Maclin said he still had a lot he wanted to accomplish at Missouri but would sit down with his coaches and family and make the best decision. Jan. 15 is the deaadline.

Sure would love to see Mac back at Mizzou in 2009. Having Weatherspoon back is a good start for a beleaguered defense.

I’d also like to see Maclin back next year, but heading off into the top half of round 1 would certainly be understandable. Here’s hoping that Blaine Gabbert and Spoon can convince him to stay.

I actually would not want to see Maclin back for another year at Missouri. You can only run that fast for a few years. Time to get paid for it, J-Mac. Thanks for going out strong.

No Maclin. No Coffman. No Daniel. No Offensive Coordinator. Hello 7-5.

I hope mac goes pro. He did his job, now he needs to get paid. I just wish we could have gotten a recruit of similair talent for next year.

I’d hate to see Maclin get injured next year as a tiger.

Joe, I’m pretty sure most people were saying the same things back when Brad Smith graduated. Gabbert was rated the #1 pro-style QB in America for a reason…we’ll be fine. And not that prospect ratings are the end-all-be-all, but just for a comparison…Coffmann was a 2-star recruit coming into college, Andrew Jones was a 4-star. Don’t rule out Big Shel being involved in the offense as well. Yost will roll out a Christensen-like offense. I still think 9-10 wins a good possibility.

First Mac needs to take the money and run .. we will enjoy watching him in the pros. When it comes to next year at Mizzou I for one believe we will be in very capable hands when it comes to Gabbert I watched him High School he is going to be fun to watch. Gary needs to get out there and recruit. Keep these kids in State let no one out. 10 wins next year should always be the goal but we should never settle for it.. top ten

Team was average this year with a terrible defense. Next year will be a rude awakening for this poorly coached and motivated team. The two great years (tongue in cheek) of Missouri football will soon be a distant memory. Best Misery team ever played in the Alamo Bowl and lost 4 games. I guess when your team has 5 national championships you just set your expectations a little higher. Hope you enjoyed your short day in the sun…..

“I guess when your team has 5 national championships you just set your expectations a little higher.”

You are joking, right? How did your expectations meet reality when the Tigers pounded the Corn Eaters 52-17? How about when KU hung 76 on you last year? Good lord, bugeater, your sense of perspective is amazing.

JMAC,
5 championships…I guess you are a corn!@#$*? fan. The truth is Mizzou beat the sh$# out of Nebraska the past 2 years. You are sadly mistaking if you think MU is done. I guess you have nothing better to do than troll Stltoday.com looking to vent your anger between making the pizzas. I have a question for you,” How do you get a NU grad off your front porch? Pay him for the pizza”.
