The Columbia Tribune has an interesting report on quarterback Chase Daniel, who says he was bothered by a thumb injury the last part of the season.

Although Daniel can’t pinpoint the injury, Missouri trainer Rex Sharp tells the paper it was in the Big 12 title game against Oklahoma and that Daniel wore a cast the following week.

Daniel is in Houston for this week’s East-West Shrine Game and will then go to Mobile, Ala.,  for the Senior Bowl on Jan. 24.

Good ridden Chase Daniel. You still stink up the big games. Thanks for getting me the raise though!

He certainly didn’t look like the same guy after the OK State game, but he still elevated this program to new heights. Never forget who brough you to the prom.

He had a thumb injury the last part of the season, all right — because it was up his a** during most of the last 4 games.

Chase led Missouri to 22 wins in the last two years alone. Missouri has been the division champ for the past two years. Chase threw over 100 touchdown passes in his career at Mizzou. Chase led this senior group through the last four years with a record not seen at Missouri in a long time. Thank you Mr. Daniel for being a Mizzou Tiger!!!

lol @ Gary Pinkel… The report seems legit, although it’s a little mysterious that Chase and the trainer have differing reports on when the injury happened. I wish us fans had known about it back during the season. I would have been more interested then. Now, eh, what’s done is done.

In 2009 Mizzou lost every game against ranked opponents and the remaining teams had an aggregate losing record. Granted this program has sucked less - not necessarily gotten better - due to very favorable scheduling and playing in a crappy division. I’m a Mizzou fan but hold on to your hats ’cause the dark days are returning.

BULL is right. But i did have a suspicion that he was hurt from the OKState game on…. He couldnt make any long throws and had lost some accuracy. My question is… If he was hurt, WHY THE HECK DIDNT CHASE PATTON PLAY!!!??? There is no doubt in my mind that a health patton is better than that performance that daniel put on the second half of the season.

Listen to all Mizzou fans…now that the 2 talents are leaving what makes you think Gary Pinkel will just keep Mizzou tops in Big 12 North??? Why waste money on an extension when he hasn’t won a damn thing???

It was a freak booger eating accident. Good news is that Chase has learned from this mistake and will no longer try to pick his nose with his thumb…

anyone on here calling this BULL, is a fricking coward… and a total asshole. Makes perfect sense to me, and gives an explanation as to why he looked so different the past couple games compared to the other 36 that he was starting QB for.

All you gutless pukes that like to ride on Daniel are probably the most pathetic, most useless sports fans in the world.

I bet its the same dickholes that booed Kurt Warner.

B/c they didn’t ask you Richard Thomas. Your opinion doesn’t count. And if you think they were just 2 talents, then you didn’t watch one game.

how can so many people trash Chase Daniel! the guy’s a student-athlete who took Mizzou to a whole new level. no, he wasn’t perfect. but there were an awful lot of games when he did look like it!

Chase did not bring the MU program to the level it’s at BRAD SMITH did. Without Brad putting MU on the map Mizzou’s football program would still be as bad as it’s Basketball program

Man…it’s as if this guy has done nothing over his last two seasons. All the bashers forget how exciting it was to be ranked every week for nearly two seasons. They forget that a program turned around with this kid leading the charge. I’m excited for some talent to come through the program and to see what the young guys can do. I’ll miss Chase and all the other seniors. However…I can’t stand people how want to critize a kid for things that are over. I’d understand if he blamed losses on the thumb or if during the season he wouldn’t go because of it, but he fought through it. Worked as hard as he could and did his best. You may remember that the defense was our big problem. The offense scored enough points in most games to win. People are shameless. Jim Mora was right when describe the average fan. “You think you know, but you really don’t know.” Lastly…for the guy who stated that the dark days are about to return…those days don’t usually come around when you’ve got 4 star receivers ready to step in, a 5 star QB ready to take over, a 5 star defensive lineman committed to the school and two of the top rated defensive JUCO players in the country already enrolled for the spring semester. But I’m sure you know more about football than those of us who actually pay attention to it. Again…you think you know, but you really don’t know.

As a long time Tigers fan who suffered through the post James Wilder years, it’s nice to “expect” the team to have a winning record. However, it’s also frustrating watching the Tigers the last two seasons knowing that they were not going to win the big game. I like Daniel and he had his moments at QB, but he’s just another guy at the position. Daniel did all he could do - he is what he is - average. That’s not meant to be negative, it is just a fact. If Mizzou wants to take the next step to be a top tier program they have to upgrade the talent they are bringing on campus. - http://www.unfilteredopinion.com

Why bring this out now? It only seems like an excuse for his below par play. If that was the case they should have played CHASE PATTON and let Chase sit until the thumb was healed. Look what happened to Kurt Werner when his thumb was the size of his foot. Couldn’t throw and hold the ball. Poor decision by the Tiger staff.

How soon Tiger Nation forgets. While I too was mystified by his play this year, Chase Daniel is the best thing to happen to this program since the success of the 60’s. My guess is we won’t know what we really had until next fall sometime. I am certain a solid NFL career awaits him.

In retrospect, it would have been great to have Texas or Oklahoma play Mizzou in Columbia this year or last. Kicking down the door of the Big 12 elite sure is easier at home. I hope we get the chance sometime soon.

Unkless he thinks with his thumb, it can’t explain his proclivity for bone-headed decisions this year. I didn’t see badly thrown balls as much as unnecessary sacks and interceptions.

Seriously anyone that has discouraging things to say about Chase Daniel must be one of the bandwagon fans that I have enjoy cheering withe these last couple of years. I would like to bet that you all liked Jeremy Maclin?.?.? He is pretty good wouldnt you say?.?.?

Well without Chase we dont get Maclin so realize what Chase has done for Mizzou and quit moving your mouth.
