Missouri wide receiver Jeremy Maclin will announce his pro intentions on Friday at 11 a.m. in Columbia.

Jan. 15 is the deadline for underclassmen to declare early for the NFL draft.

He previously had filed paperwork with the league to see where he would rank in the draft.

After Missouri’s victory in the Alamo Bowl, he said he would sit down with coach Gary Pinkel and assistant coach Andy Hill along with his family to make a decision but added “there’s a lot more that I want to achieve” at MU.

Before the Alamo Bowl, Pinkel told the New York Times that “his assumption is if he’s a first-rounder that he would go.”

In the latest Scout’s Inc. ratings on ESPN, Maclin is listed at No. 8.

Tough call here. Maclin is legit and can have a fine pro career. He has basically acheived and proven all on the college and may need to “take it to the next level”

The kid is great. But with that knee injury he had, for his sake, I hope he takes the money NOW, instead of a MAYBE next year if something happens to that knee again. Good luck Jeremy!

As a huge Mizzou fan down here in Big D, it saddens me to report that Mizzou is a distant 3rd in recruiting Texas football talent in the Big 12 North behind Nebraska and Kansas this year. While I cannot for any reason understand why anyone would ever want to attend Kansas, what is the attraction of Nebraska? Ever been to Lincoln? Ever been there in the winter?
Nebraska has 9 Texas recruits and 3 of those are 4-star recruits including the Dallas-Ft.Worth area player of the year. Kansas has 10 recruits as well with 1 4-star recruit. Mizzou has 3 from Texas and one of those is a 2-star recruit.

Mizzou best hope Richardson keeps his commitment and Ronnie Wingo signs on to deliver a top 25 class. The talent of this recruiting class has to come from somewhere else this year.

what ever way Maclin goes, I wish him luck. Over the past two years he has brought some great playmaking to my family and I. Coffmen, Danials, and the rest will go down in history as one of the best classes at MU. good luck Mr. Maclin.

The only reason that I can’t blame Maclin for leaving is because he is part of a money now society that does not value education enough.
GET A FREE EDUCATION!!! Education (no matter what one is studying) should not be viewed as a means to make money, BUT as a means to gain knowledge so that one can truly live. Now I guess that since Mizzou is a subpar academic school maybe it should not be valued as much as other institutes of higher learning. I just wish that more elete athletes would value education more than getting paid now.

Stay Mac Stay. I wouldn’t blame him for going and getting the money though. He will be missed at Mizzou.

With the first pick in the NFL Draft the Detroit Lions select MU wide receiver Jeremy Maclin. Oh I forgot Matt Millen is gone now so I guess they won’t be picking a wide receiver with their first pick. LOL LOL LOL

GMDK - are you really surprised that good players are chosing to go to Nebraska? Nebraska IS college football and if you had ever seen a game Lincoln you would know that. The fans are passionate about their team in good seasons and bad ones unlike the mizzou fans that give up on their team whenever they are down. While Nebraska has had a couple down years that have coincided with mizzou’s best years ever, there is tradition and a system in place that will return them to the top. I’m not sure how you are comparing Lincoln and Columbia (or Lawrence for that matter) - they are all college towns in the midwest; Columbia may be two degrees warmer on average - wooo hooo. The better players are going to Nebraska because they want to win and have a shot at going to the NFL - it’s that easy. Party is over for mizzou.

Don’t do it Jeremy Maclin! Stay in college for another year, help your new QB get Mizzou back to the Big 12 title game & enjoy the booty in Columbia.

The No Fun League will be waiting for you when you’re ready.
