Mike Anderson on bouncing back from loss to Nebraska

Mike Anderson on the big picture after an opening loss at Nebraska in Big 12 play:

“It’s a marathon, not a sprint. Lot of basketball left. You want to have opportunity to contend for conference championship. It  wasone we felt we had a chance to go in and steal. It’s like the first game of the tournament, you never know how team is going to come out. We didn’t match the intensity.  We’ve played 16 games and in 14 have matched the energy. It’s still early, hopefully a lesson learned.”

On Colorado: “A huge game for us after dropping one on road. We’ve got to be prepared for it. He (Jeff Bzdelik) is starting to get type of players that he wants. They are young. Every game is going to be an interesting game in our league. We just have to come home, regroup and play better. Take care of the home front and go on road and steal some.”

On Nebraska loss: “We have to match intensity and our defense has to pick up. Got stagnant early in game. Very uncharacteristic the the type of turnovers we had. We never got over the hump. The first half put us behind the eight ball. Have to change the starts of games. What you saw was a lot of things being forced. We let game come to us instead of taking it to them.”

PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE It’s time to get rid of this coach and get someone good in to the MU program. SLU is stealing all of the good players that a team like MU should be getting. Anderson is not a Big 12 caliber coach and his son YEAH……..HE SHOULD BE ON THE TEAM. NOT! I mean seriously.

Sluh’s basketball tradition is know were near mu’s.MA just needs a little moore time to put his team together. It will help not to have all you border-jumppers on his back every chance you get.Norm Stewart career with MU didn’t start so well,I didn’t hear you jerking-off about him!

Andy,

If Mike Anderson’s not the guy, exactly what are you looking for? I, like many others, wish the police troubles would finally disappear, but at least this last one was mostly harmless. I am thankful that the letdown in intensity displayed at Nebraska is now an anomaly. Coach A has finally started to get the kind of athletes he needs to run his desired system, and I’ve gotta believe that the defensive pressure will pay off in the long run. You must realize that there are very few quick-fix solutions in college athletics, and that a measure of patience is required.

P.S. Mizzou football fans might do well to keep that last point in mind when the fall rolls around. ;)

Andy…SLU? lol

Who did SLU steal from MIZZOU? In fact, I’d say MIZZOU has already locked up the #1 player in MO this year from KC named Michael Dixon.

MIZZOU RAH!

Coach Anderson is a great coach and he will have this team in post-season play this season. I expect the Tigers to be in the 6-10 seed range in the tournament.

Mike Anderson’s a “great” coach? Really? That must mean Doc Sadler is John Wooden. The Nebraska loss was a coach’s loss. Did the team come out flat? Yes.
Was Anderson through motivation or tactics able to do anything about it before the half? No. He was completely out-coached by Sadler and there was no Maric to blame it on this year. At what point is he held accountable? There IS a coach in the Big VII who came into a program in shambles three years ago and has turned it around and made no excuses. Jeff Capel.

HELLO (”oh–oh–oh–oh–oh” - pretty empty around here)

IS ANYBODY HOME?

HAS THIS BLOG BEEN DISCONTINUED?

Or is this just another Lee Co. budget cut?

Will the P/D ever get a regular Mizzou beat writer again?

Will a P/D writer attend the Super Bowl? Who gets to go, and who stays behind?

Stay tuned………………………..
