DeMarre Carroll in starting lineup; plenty of MU fans in Arizona
Vahe Gregorian gives us the following pre-game report from Arizona:
In contrast to the few hundred Mizzou fans who could afford the time or money to get to remote Boise last week, hundreds were in University of Phoenix Stadium on Thursday – outnumbering top-seeded Connecticut’s contingent even during the Connecticut-Purdue game preceding MU’s game with Memphis.
Still, they formed only a speck in a cavernous building that for many, if not all, MU players later will be the site of their first game ever in a dome. Depth perception will be a key in the game.
Memphis, also well-represented with fans here, played in domes in last season’s regional in Houston and in its national title game loss to Kansas in San Antonio.
Tigers forward DeMarre Carroll, who suffered a twisted ankle during practice here yesterday, is in the official starting lineup. He may be a bit gimpy but is likely to plow forward in the biggest game of his life. An MU victory, of course, would leave the Tigers a win away from the first Final Four in school history.
