Carson Coffman, the younger brother of former MU tight end Chase Coffman, is getting a shot at the No. 1 QB job for Kansas State.

After being red-shirted his first season, he played sparingly the last two but has the inside track to starting this season. He credits his family’s work ethic for sticking it out and getting ready.

“I said to myself, am I going to just sit around these three years or am I going to work. So I worked. My dad has been such a role model for our family. If you want to be good, it’s a matter of how hard you want to work. We all look up to him and how he did it.”

Paul Coffman was a walk-on at Kansas State and then went undrafted into the NFL but forged an 11-year career, the first eight in Green Bay and made three Pro Bowls at tight end.
