Depending on poll, MU football ranked from 12th to 25th
St. Louis Post-Dispatch
The first Harris poll of the season is out and the Tigers are No. 25. The Harris poll is part of the formula for determining the top two teams for the BCS championship game.
The other human poll used in that formula is the USA Today Coaches’ Poll, which has MU at 23.
Not all of the computer rankings used release their numbers this early, but a few do:
Jeff Sagarin: 19th
Richard Billingsley: 20th
Colley Matrix: 20th
Kenneth Massey: 12th
It’s way too early in the MIZZOU season to know how good of a team we have this year. All the real games lie ahead of them!
12th? I seriously doubt the Tigers are the 12th best team in the country. I think the jury is still out on them, frankly. I’m not really sure they belong in the top 25, but it’s possible. Not 12th. That guy’s Massey’s rating method must be a little screwy. The next part of the schedule will tell us a lot about this team. That said, I’m rooting for them. They’re prety young, they’ll get better, I’m just not sure how far they can go this year. Just being realistic and not getting my hope too high.
I think we will know alot more about this team once they play Nebraska…If they don’t bring their “A Game” they will lose Nebraska looks pretty decent this year….I mean both them and VA Tech looked aweful in that game but other than that…They’ve looked pretty strong. Mizzou has been shaky and irratic in every game I’ve seen or listened to except the Furman game…
I think the kids are doing great despite all of nay sayers. It says alot about the coaches and their abilities also ,its hard to lose your top players and still compete. Yes Nebraska will be a good guide, but they also seem to get it done one way or another thats ALL HEART
I’m kinda glad we’re not in the Top 25. Keep that chip on the shoulder. Win the next three games, and we’re in the Top 10. Keep plugging away, Tigers — and please, don’t go fighting with the hoops team like other unnamed schools.
Mizzou has looked shaky at times against some sub-par performers. The next few weeks will really tell what this team is made of. Missouri knows they have the talent at wide receiver, but can the defense hold up against a talented offense. The frat boy from Nevada sure looked tough against Mizzou’s Big XII defense.
Just beat Huskers, Texas, O.U. and Okie State and the polls will take care of themselves!
