Down to the wire for Chase Daniel to make Redskins

It sounds like an interesting battle between former MU QB Chase Daniel and Colt Brennan for the No. 3 QB spot with the Washington Redskins.

One of the Washington Post’s sports blogs has all the reaction after Thursday’s final pre-season game against the Jaguars. Daniel started for Washington and went against Jacksonville’s first-team defense on the first series.

“I mean, it’s definitely hard…but it’s a great experience for me to go against the ones, and really just try and show what I have,” Daniel told D.C. reporters. “I came out the second half, had a good first drive. It stopped, but I was able to come back and be positive and get us a late touchdown, and that’s big for me, not having as good a game as I wanted to. But I did as well as I possibly could.”

Preseason Stats. Colt Brennan 23 of 44 for 249 yards, 1 TD, 3 int, 7 Sacks. QB rating 49.5. Chase Daniel 14 of 24 for 143 yards, 3 TDs, no int, 1 sack vs Jaguars starting Defense. QB rating 115.1. Colt talks about his progress, 3 int and 7 sacks in 4 games is progress? or regress? Chase had 3 TDs in only 2 games. 49.5 vs 115.1 Not bad for an undrafted free agent.
Too short at 6′? How about Doug Flutie? Some guys just know how to win.
Size isnt everything. Does anyone remember Dan Maguire for San Diego State?

I don’t remember Dan Maguire, but I sure do remember the Fiesta Bowl, where the Sooner Schooner sank on a blue reef. Great game!

I should have used spell check. That was Dan McGwire brother to Mark McGwire. He was 6′8″ 240lb. Nobody else remembers him either.

Hey Larry, you talking about the same team that also beat Oregon Ducks with the cheating Pac 10 officials last night?

It’s not just Doug Flutie - Drew Brees is 6′ and he seems to get by well enough…

Drew Breez is 6′ tall

Chase out played Colt Brennan. Chase should not only make the team. He is much better than the 15 year old past his prime vet - Tod Collins. I also beleive that Chase could come off the bench and produce in the NFL behind Jason Campbell . Jason Cambell is overated and an average NFL QB at best. Good luck Chase. Chase is a winner!~

I Think Chase could arguably be better than Jason Campbell. Jason Campbell throws alot like Paul Thompson did at Oklahoma. Either high or behind the receiver, making it a hard pass to catch with no Y.A.C. I didnt like him when he played at MU, but I have to admit, the kids got tallent.

I agree, Drew Breez is a better QB than Phillip Rivers.
