Missouri basketball recruiting update

Catching up on Missouri basketball recruiting.

Point guard Phil Pressey, ranked among the top prospects in the nation depending on the scouting service you look at, picked the Tigers last weekend.

Pressey is currently playing for Episcopal of Dallas and Team Texas AAU. Before that, he played at a prep school in the Boston area and was on the powerful BABC AAU team.

Pressey, 5-10, is the son of former NBA player Paul Pressey, who was a teammate of MU coach Mike Anderson at Tulsa under Nolan Richardson.

I saw Pressey play several times in the Boston area when his team was matched against my son’s team three years in a row in state tournament. He’s legit and seemed very level-headed in the high-pressure world of top flight AAU hoops. For a taste of what it was like when Pressey played for BABC, here’s a good look at the team and its rival.

This may be a stupid question but when will he be playing for Mizzou, this year or next year?

It’ll be next year (2010-2011 season). He’s a high school senior right now.

When I read “among the top prospects in the nation”, I think top 10, maybe top 20. 54 (http://basketballrecruiting.rivals.com/viewrank.asp?SID=910&Year=2010&ra_key=1909) isn’t really top, is it

Hey “ummmmm” - Top prospect in the nation can mean a lot of things but, this is the highest rated kid to come to Mizzou since Linus Kleisa. Get excited about him cause he will be a star.
